On March 13th, our beloved Pop, Charles P. Naradko, 77, Pottsville, was called home to heaven unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem Campus.
He was born August 4, 1943, the son of the late Charles and Pauline (Giemza) Naradko.
Sonny was married to the love of his life Judy (Schwartz). In 2020, they celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Sonny was a graduate of St Clair High School, Class of 61. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education in 1965 from East Stroudsburg University where he was a charter member of the Beta Pentaton Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity and earned a Master of Education from Bloomsburg University.
He retired from the Schuylkill I.U. #29 after 33 years where he served as a teacher and administrator of district located classes. After finishing a day at school, Sonny would spend time building and remodeling homes, a craft that became a family tradition.
Sonny was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Clair. Most days you could find him at the church doing something after his morning meeting with the COFFEE CREW.
He was the honored patriarch of four generations of Charles P. Naradkos.
A family man through and through, Pop was so proud of each family member. He taught them valuable skills from woodworking to gardening, working on cars and cooking bean soup. He built a home for each one of his children and the homestead that is filled with love to the hilt each holiday and every day in between. He was elated all of his grandchildren attended college or are college bound. If you knew Sonny, you would know that his greatest achievement was his ever growing family. He loved them beyond measure, and they loved him and will miss him dearly.
Pop is also survived by his children, son Charlie, husband of Vicky, daughters Barbi, wife of Quinn Artz, Debbi, wife of Jack Hurst and Michelle, wife of Mike Hammer; 10 grandchildren, Michael Hammer and wife Ang, Charlie Naradko and wife Maddy, Lexi Hammer and companion Kevin Hoffman, Kelsey Hurst, Justin Hammer, Jack Hurst Jr., Torie Naradko and companion Ryan Yoder, Jacob Artz, Joshua Hurst, and Ben Artz; 2 great grandchildren, Charlie and Hadlee Naradko and his buddy, Miss Molly.
Devine Liturgy will be held at 11:00 AM Friday March 19, 2021 from St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 105 N. Morris St. Saint Clair, PA 17970 with Rev. Msgr. Myron Garbowski officiating. Friends may call from 8:30-11:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the March of Dimes, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 18819, Atlanta, GA 31126. Judy, Words cannot explain the sadness you and your family are experiencing at this moment. Charlie was the smartest man I ever met. He knew about any subject that was brought up. We always discussed his love for you and his children and grandchildren. I’m so sorry I won’t be able to attend his service because of being in Florida. We’ll miss him at the coffee get together when it opens. God bless you and your family.
