John “Jack” G. Toner

John “Jack” G. Toner, 64, of 113 South Front Street,  St. Clair, died Monday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Allentown PA.

 

Born in Pottsville, October 28, 1949, He was the son of the late John  and Alice (Brady) Toner.

 

He was a 1967 graduate of Nativity BVM High School and a 1972 graduate of Kutztown University. 

 

He was a retired teacher at St. Clair Elementary/ Middle School, St. Clair and worked at the Schuylkill County Courthouse for the Sheriff's Department.

 

Jack was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair, Knights of Columbus, St. John Neumann Regional Council, St. Clair, Frackville Elks Lodge #1533; St. Clair Fish & Game Association and a Democratic Committee Chairman.

 

He was the last surviving member of the Toner family. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Theresa Dolan.

 

Surviving are his wife of 39 years Mary (Bretz) Toner, three cousins Tish Zimmerman, Ephrata; Alicia Dolan, Emmaus; and Margaret Ulmer, Rock. One Niece and two Nephews.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair with. Msgr. William F. Glosser officiating.  Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Thursday and 10:00 – 11:00 AM Friday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The St. Clair of Assisi Roman Catholic Church Memorial Fund. Burial will be in Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Norwegian Twp.

Mary,

We are very saddened by Jack's passing. He was a nice guy and will be missed by many.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you . May the lord guide you through this most  sad and hard time.
