James R. Robert Hess, 80, of Honeysuckle Ct. , Pine Grove, formerly of St. Clair, died Friday December 18, 2020, at his residence.

Born in Pottsville, August 26, 1940, He was a son of the late James and Nellie (Peleckis) Hess.

He served in both the United States Marines Corp. and the US Army.

Jim graduated from St Clair High School where he later became a High School Social Studies Teacher for the School District until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair, Knights of Lithuania Anthracite Council 144; Delaware Weapons Association; American Society of Military Insignia Collectors; St. Clair Community and Historical Society; Association of School Retirees; Schuylkill County Wood Carvers, and American Legion Post 719, St. Clair, PA.

Surviving are his wife Margaret “Peg” Conroy Hess, 2 daughters, Erica Ramus and her husband Gary of Schuylkill Haven; Lisa Hale and her husband Tom of Pine Grove; 4 grandchildren, Nicole Schnerring, Ashley Hale, Dakota Ramus, Brandon Ramus, great grandson Colton Ramus 2 sisters Judith Burns and her husband Tom of Newark, DE; Nancy Lenhart of Harrison Valley;  3 step-sons, Joseph McElvaney, Sean McElvaney both of Phoenix, AZ; David McElvaney of St. Clair;nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Tuesday Dec. 22, 2020from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair. The Rev. Msgr. William F. Glosser will be officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 AM – Noon Tuesday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Clare of Assisi Memorial Fund; Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.

So sorry for your loss of Jimmy. My grandparents were neighbors of Nellie’s and I knew him from the time I was a little girl. You will be in my prayers.

Our thoughts and prayers to Erica & Lisa and family. I grew up with Erica & Lisa. Their dad was my school teacher in Saint Clair school. Many memories with his girls .. Mr. Hess was a wonderful person and a great teacher. I also was at Schuylkill Center when the girls gram passed away😭 She
was also a wonderful person..
