Alberta June  Davis , 82, of Raven Run, died Wednesday at Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St.

 

Alberta was born  on June 3, 1932 at home in the small town of Dotter's Corners at the foot of the Pocono Mountains. She was a daughter of the late Albert Franklin  Green and Mildred Julia (Berger) Green.

 

She was attended Polk Twp schools, moved to Lehighton and graduated from Lehighton High School in 1950.  Alberta then attended Ashland School of nursing, graduating and obtaining her R.N. license in 1953.  Married the same year to George Samuel Davis, they resided in Philadelphia for a short period of time before moving to Raven Run.  She was employed by the Pottsville Hospital for 21 years as an OB-GYN nurse where she enjoyed helping deliver many babies into the world.  Alberta also worked at Frackville Vocational Center for 7 years supervising LPN students.

 

 

She was a member of United Methodist Church of William Penn, Retired Nurses of Schuylkill County and Antique Automobile Club of America, Ontelaunee Region where she was a past president.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband George  Davis in 2001 and a  brother Albert Green.

 

Surviving are a daughter Mary Shuttlesworth and her husband John of Ashland; 4  sons George Davis  of Nashville, TN; John Davis and his wife Tina of Weston Place; William Davis and his wife Tracey of Raven Run; Albert Davis and his wife Lesley of Weston Place; 8 Grandchildren Aaron and Jack  Shuttlesworth; Stephanie and Kristen Pascavage; Justine, Devin,  Noelle, and Hunter Davis; 2 Great Grandchildren Mason Kanley and Rialle Davis; 4 brothers Floyd Green and his wife Norma; Robert Green and his companion Ellen Ronnie and Ralph Green; sister Martha Brady; Cousins Earl Hunsinger and Dolores Knappenberger; Nieces, Nephews and her dear friend Fred Kriszat.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday from Nice- Hart Funeral Home, Inc, 9 North Lehigh Avenue Frackville with. Rev. Peggy  Reed  officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday and 9:00 AM- 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to AACA Ontelaunee Region Educational Fund, c/o Lester Manwiller, 20 Timothy Dr. Fleetwood, PA 19522. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights

Sorry we won't be able to be at the funeral for Alberta, but we are out in Ohio visiting family.  I will miss seeing and talking with Alberta at the Ontellaunee meetings.  Our prayers and sympathy will be with your family. Mike and Jennifer

Alberta will be missed by everyone she touched!She had been a supervisor of mine in the hospital on OB-Gyn and a very close friend.It was a pleasure seeing her in the St.Patricks Day parade in Girardville this past March.First words out of her mouth "Where's Mike!"Alberta wiill always be with you in your hearts and all the memories !Sorry to see such a wonderful woman leave the family that she adored and loved.God Bless!!
