Jones, Frances 2016Frances  Ann (Moore) Jones, 79, of Pottsville, passed away Friday April 8, 2016 of a "broken heart" surrounded by her loving family.   She has now rejoined her beloved husband of 63 years, who passed away January 3, 2016.

 

Born in St. Clair, February 16, 1937, She was a daughter of the late Francis and Eleanor (Dimmerling) Moore, proprietors of Moore's Hotel, Pottsville.   There she met her true love and future husband at the age of 15.  They were wed January 10, 1953 at Mary Queen of Peace church, Pottsville.   Shortly after her husband was stationed overseas while she remained home to continue her education at Pottsville Area High School until her senior year when she sailed on the Gunther to be with her husband in France.   There they had their first child, before returning to the United States, where they were blessed with 6 more children. 

 

 

She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi RC Church, St. Clair.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herbert D. "Jonesy" Jones, 2 brothers, George and Joseph Moore; and a grandson, baby boy Tobin.

 

Surviving are 5 daughters, Mary McSurdy and her husband Jack of Emmaus;  Debra Herring and her husband Wayne of Schuylkill Haven;  Michelle Hosler and her husband Charles of Brockton; Ann Marie Miller and her husband Michael of St. Clair; Colleen Jones and her husband James Adams of Pottsville; 2 sons James Jones of Ebensburg; Donald Jones and his wife Michele of Barnesville; 2 sisters Elizabeth Robbins of Mt. Carmel;  Eleanor Bergen of Pottsville; 2 brothers John Moore of Pottsville; Dennis Moore of Palmyra;  15 Grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; 6 step-great grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

 

Frances always said, "If it's not chocolate its not worth eating"

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair with Msgr. William F. Glosser  officiating.  Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Tuesday and 9:00-10:00 AM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Center for Special Learning, 2075 W. Norwegian St. Pottsville, PA 17901. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
