Michael Kovich 2017Our beloved father Michael  Kovich , 94, entered into his eternal reward February 14, 2017 in the loving arms of Jesus and  Mary surrounded by his loving children as we prayed the Flame of Love Hail Mary.

Michael formerly of St. Clair, resided with his daughter Joann Faenza of Port Carbon.  

He was son of the late John and Mary (Fesko) Kovich was born on Oct. 22,1922 in New Castle Township.

Michael Kovich served in the US Navy  on the USS LST 986 in WWII.

He was a member The St. Clair American Legion Post 719 where he served on their Veteran Honor Guard.  

He retired from the  Fairmount Foundry, Hamburg, in 1984, where he worked for 29 years.  At that time, he was President of Local 242 and a member of the International Molders and Allied Workers Union of Region 6, Lancaster, where he served as a delegate to 3 International Conventions; two in Cincinnati, OH and 1 in Balboa, FL.  Michael also worked at Phoenix Coal Co. and other industries.

Michael  was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, St. Clair, where he was active in Holy Name Society and baking guild for many years. He did custodial care of his beloved church whom he loved dearly for over 35 years. You could always count on him being there, whether he was cutting grass, painting or cleaning the church. Anything that had to be done, you could count on him,  without asking. He dedicated his whole life to his church even up to his last 3 days. No job was too big or small for him. He will be sadly missed by everyone. He never missed his daily morning rosary or evening prayers.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice of 66 years in 2012; son in law, Joseph Faenza in January; Granddaughter Michelle Tomko; brother John Kovich; 3 sisters, Dorothy Ryan, Mary Erdock and Anna Fedock,

Surviving are twin daughters, Joann Faenza with whom he resided; Joan Tellup and her husband Larry of Whitehall; 2 son Ronald Kovich and his wife Julie of Macon, GA; son Thomas Kovich and his wife Nancy of Myrtle Beach SC;  2 sisters Helen Eagan and Ethel Cooper; brother Joseph Kovich; Grandchildren Michael Tomko, Larissa Brodeur, Pamela Wagner, Maria Maxwell, Jennifer Larsen, Karen McGuern; Great Grandchildren Joshua Tomko, Courtney and Zackery Brodeur, Nathan Maxwell, Elizabeth and Thomas Larsen and Jocelyn Tellup; Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday February 18, 2017 at Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home 110 N. Second St. St. Clair. Divine Liturgy following at 11:30 AM from St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, 131 S. Morris St., St. Clair, PA 17970 with Rev. James Carroll Officiating. Friends may call from 9:30- 11:00  at the funeral home . In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church Memorial fund at the above address. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, St. Clair .
