Francis “Buck” Campion

Francis “Buck” Vincent Campion age 84, of College Station TX, formerly of Pottsville and Mount Laffey, Pa. died on July 15, 2018 at home in the presence of his family.

Born 1933 in Mount Laffee, he was the son of the late Thomas & Margaret Boran Campion. He was a 1951 graduate from Pottsville Catholic High School. He played amateur baseball in several Schuylkill County Teams and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the two Roman Catholic Churches – Mary Queen of Peace, Pottsville, Pa and St. Thomas Aquinas in College Station, Texas. He served as a specialist in the U.S. Army in Fort Hood, Texas from 1956 – 1958. He was employed at the Pottsville Box Factory from 1951-1969. He then worked at Allied Chemical Plant in Marlin, Pa from 1969-1997 until he retired. He married in 1959 to Joanne Conroy Campion of Port Carbon, Pa. In 2005, Francis and Joanne moved to College Station, Texas were he resided until his death.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Thomas and Margaret Boran Campion, 4 sisters, Mildred Campion, Claire Delaney, Rita Cirullo, Irma Phillips, and 3 brothers, Joe Campion, Leroy Campion and Cyril Campion.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years of marriage, Joanne Conroy Campion of College Station, TX; 2 daughters, Dr. Karen Campion Brown of College Station, TX; Helene Pheiffer of Bethlehem; 2 sons, Michael J. Campion of Kittery , ME; Thomas R. Campion of Leesville, La;  Seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Campion, Bryna Pheiffer, Aidan Pheiffer, Kiera Pheiffer, Liam Pheiffer, Ryan Campion, Julia Campion, and one great grandchild, Avery Campion; his sister in law, Jean Campion of Lancaster; nieces, nephews, daughters in law and sons in laws.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:45 AM Saturday September 22, 2018 at Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second St. St. Clair, PA 17970. Rev. William Campion will be officiating.   Friends may call from 9:45 – 10:45 AM at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.
