William F. Hanley Sr., 86, of Mill Creek Manor, died Saturday at York Terrace Nursing Center, Pottsville.
Born in Philadelphia, July 22, 1929, he was a son of the late William and Helen Cloran Hanley.
William F. Hanley Sr. served in the Army during the Korean War .
He was a retired exterminator working for JC Erlich Co., Pottsville.
He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Saint Clair, Knights of Columbus St. John Neuman Council, Saint Clair American Legion Post 719, Saint Clair AMVETS Post 142 and Pottsville Catholic War Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jones Hanley, in 1999; two brothers, Joseph and Robert Hanley.
Surviving are a son, William F. Hanley Jr. and his wife, Gemmy, Pottsville; daughter, Lou Anne Hart and her husband, Bruce, Saint Clair; sister, Eileen Richey, Southampton; granddaughter, Jennifer Hanley and her husband, Steven Kameny; three grandsons, William M. Hanley and his fiancee, Sarah, Joshua Hart and his wife, Shawna, and Ryan Hart; two great-grandchildren, Teagan and Declan Hart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St., Saint Clair, with Monsignor William F. Glosser officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second St., Saint Clair. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Clare of Assisi Memorial Fund at the above address. Burial with military honors will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Saint Clair.
