Maryann Stencovage

d. March 29, 2022

Maryann Wapinsky Stencovage, 89, of Saint Clair, passed away peacefully March 29, 2022.

She was born Nov. 4, 1932, in Frackville, a daughter of the late Anthony "Tony" and Anna (Dudonis) Wapinsky.

Maryann was the devoted wife to Joseph Stencovage for 67 years, whom preceded her in death Sept. 30, 2020.

She was blessed to be a homemaker and stay-at-home mother who enjoyed entertaining the neighborhood children when they were young.

She is a current member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church and a previous member of Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church.

She was a member of the church choir, rosary society and social club in the parishes. As a young teen, she honorably served as May Queen at Ss. Peter and Paul. She was a volunteer at St. Mary's Catholic Grade School, member of the Lithuanian Women's Club, Saint Clair Women's Club and a previous president of the Saint Clair Jr. Women's Club. Maryann was an active community fundraiser, which supported many health organizations, Saint Clair Halloween Parade and St. Clare of Assisi annual pierogi sale, where she enjoyed "pinching the dough" and socializing. As a voracious reader, she enjoyed book swaps with her neighbors and friends. Along with her reading, she enjoyed watching the activities of the town from her front porch with neighbors, gardening and cooking for the many impromptu gatherings in her home.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Wapinsky Berdainer, and brother, Francis "Frank" Wapinsky.

Surviving are daughter, Diane "Dee" Ostrosky; son, Daniel "Sten" Stencovage; grandchildren, Dr. Todd Brown and Krista Taube and her husband, Josh Taube; three great-grandchildren, Kylie, Mila and Alexandra; nieces, nephews and cousins.
