Marie A. Melvin , 77, formerly of Shenandoah passed Friday April 3, 2015 at Tremont Health & Rehab Center.
Born in Shenandoah, December 8, 1937, She was a daughter of the late Frank P. and Cassie (Daroshefski) McDonald.
She was a graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School and the Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing. Marie retired from Rest Haven Nursing Home, Schuylkill Haven as the evening supervisor and was a member of the Schuylkill County Retirees Association.
An honorary Alumna of the School of Nursing, she had also been a member of the Catholic Nurses Guild, Catholic Daughters Court Annunciation #175 and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was a member of the former Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah.
She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Melvin in 1995.
Surviving are 2 sisters Frances Yacapsin wife of Eugene of Nesquehoning; Ann Mayefskie wife of Gerald of Crofton, MD and Nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 Am Wednesday April 8, 2015 from Devine Mercy Roman Catholic Church 224 West Cherry Street Shenandoah PA 17976 with Rev. Johnson officiating. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church.
In Lieu of flowers the family would prefer remembrances to Divine Mercy Memorial Fund. Burial will be in Annunciation BVM Cemetery , Shenandoah Heights.
