Marie A. Downey, 87, formerly of Mahanoy City died Saturday at Seton Manor Nursing Center, Orwigsburg.
Born in Shenandoah, August 15, 1926, She was a daughter of the late James and Katie (Mundy) Whalen.
She attended Mahanoy Township Schools and graduated from the James Martin School of Practical Nursing, Philadelphia.
She was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church , Mahanoy City.
Marie was preceded in death by her first husband David Y. Hibbs and second husband Andrew E. Downey.
Surviving are a son David W. Hibbs, Audubon, NJ; 2 daughters Dolores Hibbs Caliman, San Francisco, CA; Donna M. Halsted, Egg Harbor,NJ; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday from Blessed Teresa of Calcutta RC Church , 614 West Mahanoy Ave. Mahanoy City, PA 17978. The Rev. Kevin Gallagher will be officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Memorial Fund at the above address . Burial will be in Annunciation Cemetery Shenandoah Heights, Shenandoah .
