Lisanne A. Cooney , 58, of 214 South Nice St., Frackville, passed away Thursday at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Greensburg, February 28, 1956, She was a daughter of Nancy T. (Thomas) Aleandri of Greensburg and the late John Aleandri.
She was a graduate of Hempfield High School, and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Lisa was a Correspondent at Pottsville Republican & Evening Herald and a contributing writer for "Schuylkill Living Magazine". She enjoyed her job as a correspondent for the Potttsville Republican and Herald because as she said,"I have met so many nice and interesting people all around the county."
She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Frackville, where she served in the past as lector and CCD teacher. She had been the director of religious folk groups at Our Lady of the Artic Winds Chapel at Ft Greely, Alaska and Sierra Chapel at White Sands Missile Range, NM. She received several awards from the U.S. Army for volunteer work with Army Community Services. Lisanne served many years as A Girl Scout troop leader and on council of San Gorgonio in California. She served on the Frackville Public Library Board and conducted a Children's Library program; member and past Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary of the Frackville Business and Professional Association; she served on the Frackville Pumpkin Festival Committee and Mardi Gras Committee.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years John R Cooney Jr., 3 daughters Talitha Workman and her husband Gary of West Carthage, NY; Sherah Cooney and her husband Al Oberman of Dublin, PA ; Jaala Leggette and her husband Tad of Summerville, SC; a son John Cooney of Frackville; Grandchildren Annabelle, Adam, Adeline and Abigail Workman; Haleigh and Cora Leggette and Rebecca Cooney; Mother-in-law Edna Cooney of Mifflinburg; sister Lorraine Hachgenei and her husband Hans; brother Mark Aleandri; Nieces & Nephews
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at the Nice-Hart Funeral Home 9 N. Lehigh Ave. Frackville, PA 17931. The Rev. Robert Finlan will be Officiating. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday and 9:30-10:30 AM Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Frackville Free Public Library at 56 N Lehigh Ave Frackville, Pa. 17931. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery , Annville.
