John W. Frie, 81, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday with his loving family at his side at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
Born in Mount Laffee, Dec. 12, 1934, he was a son of the late George and Catherine Eagan Frie.
He retired as a laborer at Empire Steel, Laureldale.
John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Shappell Frie; two sons, Jeffrey and James Frie; two brothers, Albert and George Frie; a sister, Margaret Frantz.
Surviving are two daughters, Janine Roth and her husband, Robert, Port Carbon, and Judith Henderson and her husband, David, Raleigh, N.C.; four sons, John Frie and his wife, Dorothy, Saint Clair, Jerome Frie and his wife, Terry, Pottsville, Joel Frie, Mississippi, and Jason Frie, Schuylkill Haven; 12 grandchildren, Maria Messner, Adam Frie, Stephen Delinko, Jocelyn Merritt, Jill Frie, Holly Frie, Jerome Frie Jr., Melissa Roth, Tyler Roth, Zachary Hundhausen, Deidre Hundhausen and Parker Henderson; eight great-grandchildren.
