Elsie Stencovage , 89, formerly of St. Clair, passed away Thursday July 20, 2017 at the home of her daughter Carolyn Hannis and Son-in-law Frank Hannis Sr.
Born in St. Clair, July 21, 1927, She was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Kalinich) Laurie.
Elsie retired as a Seamstress after working in various garment factories.
She was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church , St. Clair, Saint Michael Sisterhood, and The International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Michael Stencovage, 3 sisters Margaret Kapusta, Mary Gursky, Anna Sekela; a brother Charles Laurie.
Surviving are her daughter Carolyn Hannis and her husband, Frank Sr., Shenandoah Heights, a granddaughter Amy Hannis-Miskar, and her husband, Nicholas Miskar, Frackville, a grandson Frank J. Hannis Jr., and his wife, Jessica, 5 Great Grandchildren Brooke , Brielle, and Brynn Hannis-Miskar, Violet and Eric Hannis, 2 brothers Michael Laurie, Schuylkill Haven and John Laurie, Saint Clair, Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday from St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 109 North Nichols Street, St. Clair. The Rev. Jeff Zias will be officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday or 8:30– 9:30 Tuesday at the Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 North Second Street, St. Clair. Parastas will be Monday at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Diabetes Research Institute Foundation
