Born in Frackville, Nov. 3, 1929, he was a son of the late Vincent and Theofila Andruscavage Kunigonis.
He graduated from Frackville High School, then served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Ed retired from Alcoa Aluminum, Cressona, and worked as a funeral assistant at Nice-Hart Funeral Home Inc.
He was a member of Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Frackville.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Albert, Anthony, Alex, John, Joseph and William Kunigonis; and a sister, Tafila Huot.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Irene Kopina Kunigonis; a son, Edward V. Kunigonis and his wife, Gigie, Mukilteo, Wash.; two daughters, Bonnie Jean Hoffman and her husband, Bill, Harrisburg; Mary Beth Kuniega and her husband, Dave, Harrisburg; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Annunciation BVM Church, Frackville. The Rev. Robert Finlan will be officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Nice-Hart Funeral Home Inc., 9 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville, PA 17931. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Annunciation BVM Church Memorial Fund, 7 S. Broad Moutain Ave., Frackville, PA 17931. Internment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Nice-Hart Funeral Home Inc., Frackville, is in charge of arrangements.
