Anthony "Tony" M. Shimukonas, 74, of Barnesville, passed away Feb. 10, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, surrounded by the love of his three children after complications from heart surgery.
Born on June 4, 1947, in Gilberton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Gawley) Shimukonas.
He was a graduate of Thaddeus Stevens Trade. He worked many years at Dorr-Oliver and retired from Sealy as a mechanical engineer. He was the proud owner of several Harley-Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed rides with his buddies, The Lost Souls. He is now "forever in the wind."
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Seddon) Berger; sister, Theresa Yashinsky; and two brothers, Edward and Joseph Shimukonas.
Surviving are two daughters, Sara Williamson (Robert), and Dr. Kate Harnish (Matthew); son, Anthony Shimukonas Jr. (Corrin Kegolis); grandchildren; nieces and a great-nephew.
Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Nice-Hart Funeral Home Inc., 9 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
