Ron Parker

Ronald J. Parker, 57, a lifelong resident of East Mines and later moving to  Pottsville, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 7, at Schuylkill Medical Center.

 

Born in Pottsville on October 5, 1957, he was the son of Josephine Folta Parker and the late John F. Parker.

 

Ron was a graduate of Nativity B.V.M. High School Class of 1975. He continued his education by attending Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia and Delaware Valley College in Doylestown. He worked for the Reading Anthracite Company and was later employed by the U.S. Postal Service.

 

He had a lifelong love of sports. In his early years, as an athlete, he excelled at football, basketball, and baseball. As a spectator, he was an avid Notre Dame football follower and an enthusiastic Phillies fan. His other passion was politics, and he was an active member of the Democratic Party of Schuylkill County. Ron was a very social person who always wore a smile and enjoyed the company of his friends and family.

 

He is survived by his mother, Josephine Parker; his two children Megan Parker and Ryan Parker, both of St. Clair; his sister Bonnie J. Fedor and her husband Gary, Atglen; his two nieces Sarah Fedor, Harrisburg, and Katie May, Honeybrook.

 

Friends and family may call from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday February 10, and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Wednesday February 11, at the Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 North Second St., Saint Clair, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m Wednesday at St. Clare of Assisi Church, 250 East Hancock St., Saint Clair, PA. Burial will be in Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Norwegian Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 4527 New York, NY10163.
