Mary  Zelinsky , 93, of 140 N. Third St., St. Clair, died Tuesday at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.  

 

Born in St. Clair, September 4, 1922, She was a daughter of the late Frank  and Veronica (Petlansky) Melkonich and the widow of Joseph C. Zelinsky who died on April 18, 1994.

 

She was a 1940 graduate of St. Clair High School.  In 1951 the family moved to Philadelphia where she worked for Fleer Corp. retiring in 1977 and moving back to St. Clair.

 

She was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church , St. Clair where she served on Church council, St. Michael's Sisterhood and was a very active volunteer in the kitchen.

 

She was preceded in death by 2 Sisters Veronica Feryo and Margaret Minarick;   4 brothers Staff Sgt John Melkonich, Killed in action in 1945, Frank and Nicholas Melkonich and Emory Cuprock.

 

Surviving are a daughter Elaine Mihalas and her husband Nicholas of Charleston, SC; grandson Michael Mihalas and his wife Nicole of Pisgah Forest, NC, granddaughter Christina Mihalas of San Francisco, CA; 3 Great Grandchildren Nicholas, Zoe and Alexander Mihalas; Nieces and Nephews.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday from Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 North Second Street St. Clair.  Further Service will follow at 10:30 AM from St. Michael Orthodox Church 109 N. Nichols St. St. Clair, with Rev. Jeff Zias Officiating.  Friends may call from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Monday at the funeral home . In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael's Building Fund , 106 North Morris Street, St. Clair, PA 17970. Burial will be held at the Convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Give rest to the soul of thy servant Mary wherein there is neither sickness sorrow nor lamentation but

life everlasting.  Mary was a great person and was loved by all, May her soul be numbered among the  Saints and May her memory be eternal.6
