Born in Saint Clair, Aug. 19, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Aloysius and Gertrude Hoffman Post.
She graduated from Saint Clair High School.
Mary worked as a secretary at the Department of Public Assistance, Pottsville. She retired in 1984 to spend time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of Saint Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Saint Clair.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Salmon, on June 22, 1960; two sisters, Bernadette Pfeiffenberger and Leona Quirin; and four brothers, Joseph, Aloysius, Jack and Ted Post.
Surviving are two sons, James Salmon and his companion, Mary, Reading, and John Salmon and his wife, Jill, Pottsville; two daughters, Mary Petrachonis, Saint Clair, and Terry Owens and her husband, Al, Pittsburgh; a sister, Gertrude Charles Firth, Warminster; nine grandchildren, Vanessa Salmon, Katie Petrachonis, John Petrachonis, Annie Petrachonis, Jim Petrachonis, Benjamin Mincavage, Meredith Fitzgerald, Michael Fitzgerald and Jerry Fitzgerald; four great-grandsons, Leo, Cooper, Logan and Jordan; a great-granddaughter, Haley; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Wednesday at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St., Saint Clair. The Rev. Monsignor William F. Glosser will be officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until noon Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Norwegian Township. Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second St., Saint Clair, is in charge of arrangements.
