Harry  Reimer Dechert , 81, of 138 N. Nichols Street, St. Clair, formerly of Pottsville, passed away  Tuesday at Golden Living Center York Terrace, Pottsville PA.

 

Born in Orwigsburg, July 6, 1934, He was a son of the late Oliver and Mildred (Reimer) Dechert.

 

He was a 1952 graduate of Pottsville High School.

 

Harry served in the US Army during the Korean War.

 

He was a retired Plumber and Maintenance Man at Allied Chemical, Marlin, PA and also worked with his father at O.L. Dechert and Hadesty's.

 

Harry was a member of the Lebanon VA; Men of Trinity as Former President;  volunteered at the former Good Samaritan Hospital for over 2000 Hours,  He was a Marimba soloist and  had a great love for music, especially Elvis.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy (McClure) Dechert, one brother Oliver Dechert and 3 sisters Lois Nabholtz, Barbara Ciesla, and Phyllis Gorman.

 

Surviving are his love and companion Catherine “Kitty” Reed, 2 daughters Linda Lee Friend and her husband Mark, Orwigsburg, Dr. Tracey Ann Dechert and her husband Dr. Theodore Wassik, Boston,MA, , 2 Grandchildren Jessica and Eric Wertman, one Great Grandson Gabriel Sulick, One sister Marsha Sinclair, CO ,Nieces and Nephews.  

 

Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM Friday from Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 North Second Street St. Clair. Rev. Joe and Rev. Mickey McDemus will be officiating. . Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pottsville Area High School Marching Band, 16th St and Elk Ave, Pottsville, PA 17901. Internment with military honors will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
