Grant D. “Barney” Klock

Grant  D. "Barney" Klock, 91, of 516 West Wall St., Frackville, died Monday May 8, 2017 at LVHN – Schuylkill – E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.

 

Born in Leck Kill, November 24, 1925, he was a son of the late Thomas  and Katie (Brown) Klock.

 

Grant served in the US Army during WWII where he was a Survivor of the Troopship Leopoldville incident, which was sunk on Christmas Eve in 1944 in the English Channel. He went on to fight in Northern France where he was injured and received a Purple Heart.

 

He was a Car Salesman at the former Pope Ford Motor Company, Pottsville and owner of the former Klock Texaco Station, Frackville.

 

Grant was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville; Frackville American Legion Post 398; Friendship Fire Co., Englewood; Frackville Senior Citizens where he served as President for over 30 years and Trip Director.

 

He was preceded in death by his first  wife Theresa (Synder) Klock in 1972; his second wife Lucille (Weitz) Klock in 2005.

 

Surviving are daughter Kathryn Kraft and her husband Robert of Frackville; granddaughter Jennifer Kraft of Frackville; companion Marie Pacenta; Nieces and Nephews.

 

Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday May 13, 2017 from Schuylkill Memorial Park 75 Memorial Dr. Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. The Rev. Carl Shankweiler will be officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society 101 W. Frack St. Frackville, PA 17931.
