George A. Head, 89, of Deer Lake, died Thursday August 14,at Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian St., Pottsville.
Born in Wadesville, May 8, 1925, he was a son of the late Thomas S. and Ann (Beadle) Head.
George served in the US Army during WWII Serving in the European Theatre.
He was a retired Electrician, having worked at the former Western Electric and AT&T now Lucent in Laureldale, PA.
He was of the Protestant Faith.
George was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; Schuylkill Lodge #138 F&AM; Deer Lake Fire Co., and the Pioneers.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys F. (Webb) Head on June 9, 2013; a son Thomas E. Head; and a sister Kathryn Malia.
Surviving are his daughter Pamela H. Strouse and her husband James of Orwigsburg; 2 granddaughters, Laura E. Klauser and her husband Kenneth, Ashley J. Sigmund and her husband Louis, 2 great-grandsons Kenneth Klauser and Carter Klauser, 1   great-granddaughter Carys Klauser
George was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a talented wood worker making many cherished pieces for his family; He liked to read “tinker” around the house. He was a loyal fan of the Phillies, Eagles and Penn State. George will greatly missed by his daughter, Pamela, family and many friends.  
If you are unable to attend the services, a quiet thought or prayer for him and his loving family would be appreciated.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM Monday from Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second Street, St. Clair, PA 17970 with Rev. Jack Culbert officiating.   Friends may call from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave. Harrisburg, PA 17110.  Burial with military honors will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

My sympathies to my cousin Pam (Head)Strouse on the passing of your dad. It was with great surprise when my brother Mark Joy called me this morning and told me of his passing.

Hopefully he is in peace with your mom (Min) and your brother Tommy.
